Hi everyone,
I attached the latest results, points tables and updated postponed games list.
This week 6 games were postponed for various reasons. This brings the number of outstanding games to 12 - an increase from 6 to 12. In the circumstances I have decided to extend the deadline for all outstanding and future postponed games to the end of the season (WEDNESDAY 24 APRIL) to give all teams ample opportunity to play the games. I would encourage teams to play these games sooner rather than later as any future spell of bad weather could cause a considerable backlog and it make it very difficult for me to manage. I would ask that all teams keep me informed when a game is re-arranged so I can keep everything in order. Postponed games are listed beneath each league table and on a separate list showing all the games outstanding. As so many postponed games are outstanding I have put the unused cards in an envelope marked 'POSTPONED GAMES - PLEASE USE THESE CARDS' in the member's box to avoid throwing so many cards away. Please make use of these if you remember! Many thanks for your co-operation.
LADIES TRIPLES - All teams have now played the same number of matches and this leaves Harlequins 6 points clear with each team to play 4 more matches. The Harlequins who beat the Tristars this week 24-9 are therefore very close to winning the league.
MEN'S TRIPLES - This league is all set for an exciting 'run in'. The Outriders still head the table but only on shot difference from the Brentonians. The Outriders were involved in a very close encounter with third placed the Travellers, who led the Outriders 18-13 with two ends to play. The Outriders picked up 4 shots on those last two ends to just fail to tie the match. The Travellers winning 18-17. The Brentonians beat the Buckaroos 18-9 to join the Outriders on 26 points. The Travellers are on 25 points having obtained that vital win this week. All to play for!
MEN'S FOURS - Leaders Apprentices did not play this week. Second placed the Four J'S were unable to close the 8 point gap as they lost 21-13 to the Touchers. The Four J'S led 11-9 on the 12th end but the Touchers picked up 12 shots over the remaining four ends to win the match. The Green Wellies good run of form continues with a 16-7 win against Country Yokels.
OPEN TRIPLES - The Brentonians were in superb form this week and have taken over as league leaders from Enigma with an emphatic 25-5 win against the Desperates. They won 11 of the 13 ends played. Well done to the Brentonians team of John Sims, Miles Grindrod and Geoff Mant. Enigma lost a close match with the Owls 15-10. They led 10-6 on the 10th end before the Owls went into overdrive and picked up 9 shots on the remaining four ends.
OPEN FOURS - Just the one game played, so no change in the top places. In the game played the Laps beat the Sparklers 20-5.25.
LADIES TRIPLES SETS - The top two teams met with the leaders Magpies beating the Starlings 13-7 in a close encounter. It is difficult to predict how this league will finish as there are now 5 games outstanding, more than any other league. Each team has at least one game outstanding with the Goldfinches having 2 outstanding games, whilst the Wrens and Robins have 3 games each to play.
MEN'S TRIPLES SETS - Northwestern were again in very good form and won all three sets against the Upstarts. They now have a very commanding 18.5 lead over the Mixers whose game was postponed this week. Well done in particular to the Kingsmen team of John West, Tony Laurence and Richard Kerswell who won all three sets in beating the Park Pirates. They are having a much improved season and are now lying 4th.
