Bowling Events for the beginner and seasoned playersBowls Events - Here we give a description of the bowling programs from the very relaxed social events to national competitions. You can play at whatever level you desire or capable of.
CLUB EVENING Every Friday night at 6:15pm is where regular members meet with newer members to enjoy a session of friendly bowling. There is an informal roll-up with drawn rinks in which you will be encouraged to take part. This is a good opportunity for our new members find out more about the Club and to get themselves known. After bowling the Bar is open to allow members to relax and enjoy the social side of bowls. FRIENDLY INTERNAL GAMES AND ROLL-UPS. If it’s social bowling you’re after just book a rink in a rollup session and pay at the desk on the way in. The ticket you receive is then clipped to the board just inside the bowls hall. For these games dress is optional although to protect our carpet you must wear approved bowling footwear. A chart of general rink availability is displayed in the Hall. As a number of groups and competitions take up most of the spare space it is advisable to telephone the Centre in advance to ensure that a rink will be available. INTERNAL LEAGUE MATCHES. To get the most from your Bowls Club it is suggested that you consider joining one or more teams in the Internal Leagues. They are by far the most popular type of game and allow you to meet many of your fellow club members. During the winter season these are organized on most days and at differing times so that you should find games to suit your requirements. They carry with them a good competitive element with trophies for the successful teams at the end of the season. Team entries are accepted before the start of a new season. However, many teams require substitutes during the season due to holidays etc; a list is maintained of people willing to act as substitutes in the Hall. If you require help in finding a team for the new season, please contact a member of the Internal League Sub-committee and they will be happy to place you into a team. League Co-coordinator David Fox 01752 396217 INTERCLUB FRIENDLY MATCHES The Club has a full program of Men's, Ladies and Mixed Friendly matches during the season, and notices inviting members to add their names is displayed on the appropriate notice board. Teams are displayed on the same notice board and every effort is made to ensure that all people who enter get, as far as is possible, a fair share of matches. After selection you will be required to sign to confirm that you are indeed available to play. Please remember that you are representing the club so club dress code must be observed.
